A prolific author of books about Iowa history, the Hiawatha Public Library is thrilled to once again host Linda McCann. An Iowa author, Linda will be at the library on Tuesday, May 29 at 6:30 pm.

During this visit Linda will discuss her latest book, Civilian Conservation Corps in Northeast Iowa.
The CCC was a federal program to assist young men in supporting their families, and also to renew our natural resources. Most people know about the State Park work, but in Iowa, over 75% of the work projects were on soil erosion, flood and drought prevention, and planting trees. Linda has spoken with 18 men who were in the CCC and shares their stories. She is still looking for more men to speak with.

Linda will also share information about her research for her next book about POW camps. If you have a memory to share about the CCC, or the POW camps, Linda would love to hear your stories.
