Rates, Rules and Regulations

The following information reflects water and sewer rates per Resolution passed June 2022 by the Hiawatha Water Board of Trustees. Rates will remain the same while the commodity rate will increase by 7% for the next seven years. Sewer rates are determined by city council and are billed out based on water consumption.

Example of Minimum Residential Bill using 5/8 or 3/4 inch meter

  • $9.08 WA (water consumption)
  • $9.72 SW (107% sewer)
  • $0.68 - 6% TX (7% tax)
  • $5.00 ST (storm sewer)
  • $2.25 MP (Maintenance Program)
  • $2.00 TF (Tree Fee)
  • $28.73 Total Due

The Sewer rate is 107% of the water consumption. The excise tax rate is 6%.
