Linn County Special Election August 1

Last November, citizens in Linn County voted to reduce the size of Linn County Supervisors from five to three. Up until this point, Linn County has been made up of five districts and each district elected a representative for the Board of Supervisors. However, going from five Supervisors to three means Linn County must either redistrict into three districts or select a new representation plan.

On August 1, 2017 there will be a Linn County special election to decide how members of the county’s Board of Supervisors will be elected in the future, with three representation plan options:

Plan “one.” At large and without district requirements for the members.

Plan “two.” At large but with equal population district residence requirements for the members.

Plan “three.” From single member equal-population districts in which the electors of each district shall elect one member who must reside in that district.

Linn County is currently a plan “three” county.

Pre-registration ends Friday, July 21 at 5:00 p.m. Poll locations will be open from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 1. For more details and to find where you vote, visit Linn County’s website at linncounty.org.
