Press Release 8-10-20 Storm Damage

Hiawatha, Iowa – Storm with winds of up to 70 miles an hour through our community this afternoon.

Fire, Police and Public Works is out assessing damage.  We understand that there are several downed trees, open roofs, downed electrical lines, and other damage due to the storm.

Public Works will be clearing arterial roads immediately and will determine other streets to follow.

It is advised that vehicles stay off the streets until all damage can be assessed and trees can be cleared for your safety.

Public officials will provide a report and direction for removal or downed trees after a full assessment can be made. More communication to come.
