Removal of Debris in Waterways

The City of Hiawatha has been undertaking debris and tree removal for the past month along Dry Creek and Ushers Creek on City-Owned property. This project is removing dead trees, storm damaged trees and hanging limbs that resulted from last August’s derecho storm. This work is not related to the future Edgewood Road Extension project.

Miller Logging out of Dubuque, IA started the work in May and has completed all work in the Dry Creek area as well as the Ushers Creek area east of Miller Road to 18th Ave. Starting Friday, June 17, Miller will be starting removals of trees and debris from the south end of Willowood Dr and moving north and east up to Miller Road. They anticipate this work to take up to two weeks but may be extended. Progress will be dependent upon weather and other factors.
